“A wise captain carries more ballast than sail.”
Jamaican proverb
When you shake a can of Soda, It chemically reacts, producing enormous pressure that is kept inside the
hard can; you can’t notice any change from outside, but if opened it will explode. Same does stress! It
puts pressure on your nerves, altering their response. Being under stress for long time, can affect your
mood, decisions, and even your body!
Inner Peace by definition refers to a state of being mentally at peace away from all sorts of stress; also
many researchers consider it an aspect of being Healthy.
How to keep your Peace, with such fast pace of life and events surrounding us?
Like a sailor taking charge of his boat and fighting waves and wind, you should learn to control your life.
Have a clear destination and take all tools you may need during your trip; Set your goals, and prepare yourself physically and mentally
Avoid big waves, rocks or ice bergs; be flexible and learn how to go around or adapt a new path, but never let that take you away from your destination!
Don’t overload your boat, or put all your load on one side; understand your limits and balance between your life aspects as work, family and social life
Make use of the sunny days, take a break, reload your ship, or sell your fishes; Breaks help you to refresh your strength, reflect, and learn from your past and plan for your future.
Stay connected, sometimes you may need to send SOS; an old Radio can save your life one day!
Have company, an Extra hands can be a valuable addition; also the little chat you may share can help you to spend the dark night
Understand the surroundings, you may need to bring down your sails against storms or get your directions from stars in a dark night!
Always remember where you come from, as one day you will need to end your trip, or go back for a rest
Enjoy your trip and admire the beauty of nature surrounding you
It is not practical to tell you to isolate yourself from the stressful surroundings and events you may face unexpectedly every day. But you should understand stress and what brings it up into your life, so you can know how to deal with it and be prepared to face it!
One last advice; Practicing Yoga can help you to figure out your destination, control your body and
recharge your spiritual strength; spending some regular time focusing on certain physical and breath
exercises can be a retreat from surroundings and bring you confidence to continue your journey. Some
researchers consider prayers a kind of spiritual Yoga!
